A major Irish Water project in Cavan Town to replace the water mains will commence today.
The project will be completed in six phases from Main Street to Church Street, and is expected to be completed in August.
Main Street in Cavan town will be closed this morning from its junction with Bridge Street to its junction with Fair Green Hill until the end of February as the first phase of work gets underway.
A number of Councillors and businesses in the town had raised concerns about the potential impact and disruption of the project, with calls for the works to be carried out at night.
But Irish Water says the disruption will be minimised due to the project being carried out in six phases.
