Malta’s Foreign Affairs Minister is to visit the region today.
Carmelo Abela will visit the Monaghan-Armagh border later today, before visiting Cavan. He’ll meet businesses and people living in the area, as well as local representatives.
He’s the latest European politician to visit the region. The German Justice Minister visited the Louth-Down border in recent weeks.
The Goverment is due to finalise its contingency plans for a no-deal Brexit today. Cabinet will be briefed on the measures needed to prepare the country for the possibility of Britain leaving the EU without a deal.
They’ll set out how key sectors will be protected in case of there being no deal in place on March 29th. Meanwhile, an Oireachtas committee is looking at how co-operation will continue between agencies here and in the North on child protection and healthcare after Brexit.
