A man arrested in connection to a serious assault in Castleblayney has been remanded in custody after appearing in court today.
27 year old Francis Hughes with an address at 30 Sruith an Luir, Oram was remanded in Cloverhill Prison for one week after being refused bail.
He appeared in Cavan District Court this afternoon charged with assault causing serious harm after surrendering himself to Gardai on Tuesday.
Mr Hughes was arrested after another man received serious head injuries during an incident that took place in Oram on Sunday morning.
The injured man remains in a serious condition in Intensive Care at Beaumont Hospital.
Francis Hughes is due to appear in Cloverhill District Court next Thursday.
