Matt Carthy doesn’t rule out running in next General Election

The Sinn Fein candidate for the European Elections hasn’t ruled out running in the next General Election.

Last year, sitting MEP Matt Carthy was selected by the party to contest the next Dail elections in Cavan and Monaghan alongside Pauline Tully. If he is elected to the European Parliament on May 24th and later the Dail, Sinn Fein can select a candidate to replace Carthy in Brussels without a bye-election.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Matt Carthy explained his position.
