The Midlands motor club will host the 2nd round of the Triton Showers national rally championship this weekend.
The seeded entry list has the winner of the opening round Sam Moffett/Karl Atkinson at number 1 in their Ford Fiesta WRC with Declan and Brian Boyle at 2 also in a Fiesta WRC while last weekends West Cork Rally winner Donagh Kelly is at number 3 in his Ford Focus WRC. Monaghans Conor Foley once again on the notes.
Defending national champion Roy White with James O’Brien in the navigator seat are seeded at number 4 with Manus Kelly and Gareth Doherty in the Subaru Impreza WRC completing a very competitive top 5.
The Monaghan pairing of Niall Maguire and Enda Sherry also in an Impreza WRC and Pauric Duffy/Kevin Glynn in the Ford Fiesta R5 are included inside the top 10.
Adrian Hetherington and Andrew Grennan are the top 2 wheel drive seeds in their Mark II escort at number 9 while David Guest/Paddy Robinson will lead of the Group N class at 17 in their Mitsubishi Evo, a class that also includes Shane Maguire and Darragh Kelly in a similar car.
The Longford Arms hotel is headquarters for the event which will be run over 9 stages with service at the Mastertech Business park Athlone Road.
Barry Molloy is the press officer for the event, and he says it’s the biggest event of the year for the Midlands Motor Club.
