Minister for Climate Action says carbon tax increase is not a cash grab

Minister for Climate Action, Richard Bruton, has denied claims that the carbon tax is a cash grab.

The carbon tax is to be increased by €6 per tonne, which is part of the government’s plan to increase the price of carbon from €20 to €80 a tonne by 2030.

Speaking to The Joe Finnegan Show, Minister Bruton said that he was not seeking to give a huge jolt with the budget and that the increase was a relatively small sum.
