Missed chances proved costly for Monaghan minors

Monaghan and Cavan minors played out an enthralling Ulster Championship quarter final on Sunday evening past with the Breffni side coming out on top 3-14 to 1-15.

Having had the better start, Cavan found themselves up 1-05 to 0-03 points, but 8 unanswered points from Monaghan seen the visitors going in at the break 0-11points to 1-05 up.

Again Cavan made the better start when the 2nd half got underway and while the game did swing back in Monaghans favour for a period of time, John Bradys side ensured they did not build up an momentum by keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

Speaking after the game to our reporter Sean Mc Caffrey, manager of the Monaghan team Paul Curran acknowledged that the opening 15 minutes of each half proved costly.
