Seamus Coyle has described Fianna Fáil’s election result as “an unmitigated disaster”.
The Ballybay-Clones Councillor says the party failed to grasp the mood for change within the electorate.
Speaking to Northern Sound News he said Fianna Fáil needs to “have a look at itself and what its future role is”.
The party retained its two seats in Cavan-Monaghan earlier this month but it lost a number of high profile TDs around the country and finds itself tied with Sinn Féin as the largest party in the Dáil.
