Monaghan County Council has issued a tender to upgrade the infrastructure
and facilities at Rossmore Forest Park.
It’s been working to improve public facilities in the park since it signed
an agreement with Coillte in recent years.
A new adventure playpark in Rossmore was opened in May this year.
In addition to the playpark, the Monaghan County Council also upgraded
walking trails and signage in the park.
On the back of these developments, the county council has issued a tender
for further upgrading works.
Landscape architects, The Paul Hogarth Company, who were responsible for the
Rossmore Masterplan, has designed plans for the works.
These works will include upgrading the access road and car park, a
segregated footpath along the access road, and the refurbishment of
pedestrian foot bridges.
There will also be work on digitising the trails within the park to promote
exploration of the park’s paths and increase levels of outdoor recreation.
The works will also see the development of three additional giant
sculptures, and interpretation at key heritage sites in the park to tie in
with the Ireland’s Ancient East destination brand.
In a statement to Northern Sound News, Monaghan County Council said the
tender process is now well underway for contractors to undertake these works
and the indicative commencement date is January 2020.
