Monaghan County Council has confirmed that the Celtic High Cross in the Diamond in Clones could be relocated in the future and replaced with a replica.

However, the original cross structure would be available to view in the Lennard Arms.

It would be part of a project by the Council which would see the purchase and renovation of the Lennard Arms and a potential relocation of the Celtic High Cross into the refurbished building.

The original cross would be available to view in person during business hours and a large window would allow visitors to view it outside of these hours.

The county council say any relocation of the cross is a long way off and that no funding has been secured for the Lennard Arms project, which is in the very early stages.
