€500,000 has been provided to Monaghan County Council for flood alleviation works in Monaghan Town.
The funding will provide a new culvert across the N54 and the R162 road in Monaghan Town, as well as additional flood alleviation measures for the Castle Road area.
Minister for Business Heather Humphreys recently announced the funding which is part of the OPW’s Minor Flood Mitigation Works Scheme and she thanked Councillor David Maxwell for raising the issue.
She said she will never forget the flooding which has occurred in Monaghan Town over recent years and that this funding will ensure incidents like these will become a thing of the past.
