Monaghan County Council has responded to concerns over the removal of car parking in Ballybay.
The local authority recently acquired a number of derelict properties off Main Street and is carrying out works under the Town and Village Renewal Programme to complete the access road to an unfinished housing development.
The decision to remove a number of car parking spaces on Main Street was criticised on social media, but the council said they were removed to provide adequate sight distance at the junction being worked at.
It added that it’s been working to minimise the number of spaces lost and that 30 new spaces will be provided when the works are complete.
Monaghan County Council will also review sections of Main Street to see if additional parking spaces can be found there.
