Monaghan GP Ilona Duffy is urging people to get the flu vaccine.
Ireland’s flu season has arrived early and the HSE is warning that up to 120 people could die from the flu this winter.
It has confirmed that 186 people have been admitted to hospital with it so far this winter, with nine of them being treated in the intensive care unit.
Dr Ilona Duffy says those over the age of 65, and anyone under 65 who is a carer or who has a chronic illness, is in particular need of the vaccine.
