Monaghan GP Ilona Duffy has warned that people should expect big changes to how they access GP care in the coming days.
She said fears over the spread of the coronavirus mean that access to general practices will have to be limited.
GPs have been advised by the HSE to not have open surgeries and to prevent walk-ins and routine checks.
Dr Ilona Duffy said that patients should be triaged in advance over the phone, and if patients need to be seen, they will have to take precautionary measures before entering the practice.
