Monaghan man airlifted from Cooley mountains after fall

A Monaghan man was airlifted from the Cooley Mountains yesterday after he was injured. The Coast Guard from Greenore and Irish Coastguard helicopter Rescue 116 responded to the incident.

He was rescued by helicopter with an ankle injury after he slipped during a walk. Meanwhile, two men were killed in separate incidents in the Mourne Mountains yesterday.

They’ve been named as Seán Byrne from Camlough, Co Armagh and Robbie Robinson, from Banbridge, Co Down. It’s believed strong winds led to difficult conditions for walkers yesterday.
