Monaghan scored a narrow one point victory over Antrim as storm Hannah caused havoc in Corrigan Park.
Liam McDonald opened Monaghan’s account after three minutes, Paddie McLoughlin equalised after six minutes.
Jason Irwin, Darragh Dempsey and Liam McDonald all sent over points for Monaghan as they led 0-4 to 0-1 at half-time.
The stormy conditions played havoc with the second half, Daniel McNicholl scored the Antrim’s only point of the second after eight minutes.
Jason Irwin scored from play to restore Monaghan’s three point. Darragh Dempsey over a free eight minutes from to make it 0-6 to 0-2.
In the third minute of additional time, Joe McNally found the Monaghan net to put pressure on Mark Courihan’s side.
Monaghan finished with 14 men as substitute Declan Courtney received a red card for an off the ball incident, however the final whistled sounded immediately after the restart.
Monaghan progressed to the second round winning out 0-6 to 1-2.
