Monaghan Professor Sam McConkey says definitive and quick action is needed to control the spread of covid-19.
He says every aspect of the virus has been gradually getting worse and the pandemic has now gotten out of control all over the country.
The infectious disease specialist says more restrictions are inevitable in some regions and these restrictions may go beyond Level Five.

He told The Joe Finnegan Show today that a lockdown similar to that imposed in March may be needed.
Northern Ireland is also seeking a spike in covid-19 cases, and Professor McConkey said there needs to be greater co-operation between the north and the Republic:
