A researcher from Monaghan has received almost €1m in funding for her research into extracellular vesicles in cancer.
Lorraine O Driscoll from Smithboro, a professor in Pharmacology at Trinity College, was awarded just over €997,000 for her research project. The research team will study how tiny particles released from cancer cells into the bloodstream, can be used for early diagnoses and as indicators of the optimum anti-cancer drug for a patient.
Lorraine is amongst 12 researchers awarded a total of €11.8m from the Irish Research Council. Each awardee will receive a maximum of €1m in funding over four years.
