Monaghan student selected as one of only two students in Europe for Model UN Programme

A Monaghan student has been selected as one of only two students in Europe to attend a Model UN Programme in America

Niko Kawonczyk, a 5th year student in Saint Macartans’ College Monaghan has been accepted to represent Ireland at the Model United Nations competition which will run for two weeks in January and will see students worldwide travel to Havard and Yale to compete.

He has been described as an extremely hard worker in the community and is involved with Tidy Towns, Monaghan Mental Health, and Coder Dojo, but says it was debating from an early age that has gotten him to this stage.

Niko is currently fundraising to help cover the expenses of the trip and is hosting a Table Quiz and Raffle on the 14th of November in the Squealing Pig.
