Monaghan woman who spoke out about Harvey Weinstein is given President’s Medal at Maynooth University

The Monaghan woman, who was one of the first people to speak out against Harvey Weinstein, has been awarded the President’s Medal at Maynooth University.

Production Executive Laura Madden was given the honour last night to mark International Women’s Day, for her strength and courage to go on the record against the former movie maker.

The movie producer was found guilty of rape and sexual assault last month, which came from a New York Times article featuring Madden’s story.

As part of the event, RTE broadcaster and Castleblayney native Audrey Carville hosted a panel discussion with Madden and two female professors from Maynooth.
