Monaghan’s first ever glamping site approved

County Monaghan looks set to get its first ever glamping site.  Conditional planning permission has been granted for the construction of 8 timber camping units overlooking Castleblayney’s Lough Muckno.

The development, which could potentially accommodate up to 32 people, also includes washroom facilities, kitchen and cooking facilities.  The ‘Muckno Camping Cove’ project has won the endorsement of the County Tourism Officer, as the Council has invested heavily in developing the Lough Muckno Leisure Park, which has led to an increase in visitor numbers.

In the planning application, it was highlighted that tourist accommodation is low in Castleblayney compared to other border regions.  The permission is based on a number of conditions which protect the natural landscape in the area.
