Mother of Majella O’Hare who was shot dead during the troubles has died

The mother of Majella O’Hare, the 12 year old girl who was shot dead during the troubles, has died in Armagh.

Mary O’Hare has died more than 40 years after she lost her daughter who was shot twice in the back by a parachute regiment soldier in 1976. Mary O’Hare received an apology from the Ministry of Defence in 2011 , which was only the second time such an apology was offered for the army’s behaviour during the troubles.

Mrs. O’Hare has been remembered as a ‘woman of kindness, faith, and compassion’. She will be Reposing at her residence until removal tomorrow at 10:30am and her funeral mass will be held at 11 o’clock at St Malachy’s Church, Ballymoyer followed by burial in St Malachy’s cemetery.
