A national school in Cavan has been awarded a grant from Google.

St Brigid’s National School in Killoughter, Redhills, Co. Cavan, will receive the grant worth up to €6,000 as part of EU Code Week.

The school aims to use the grant to run a number of coding workshops for students in rural areas by utilising technology based problem solving, with activities such as Beebots, Mirco Bits and Mine Craft.

EU Code Week, which is run by Google in partnership with the European Commission, will take place from the 5-20th of October, with more than 3,000 students across Ireland expected to benefit from a number of digital skills workshops and activities.
