New bye-laws aimed at tackling illegal dumping in Monaghan is passed at Council meeting

New bye-laws which will tackle illegal dumping are due to come into place in February of next year.

The draft text of the bye-laws were passed at the recent Monaghan County Council Meeting and will go out to public consultation until December 12th.

The new bye-laws will require residents in Monaghan to be able to provide proof that they have an authorised waste collection service.

Sinn Féin Councillor Colm Carthy says that the local authority have been working on this for months and that these bye-laws will make it easier to identify those responsible for illegal dumping:
