New HSE figures reveal one of the biggest clusters in Northern Sound region is in Cavan Town

New figures from the HSE reveals that one of the biggest clusters in the region is in Cavan town.

A map of cases from day one to forty-five has been released by the HSPC.

It also suggests that a large cluster of cases of Covid-19 were reported in the Athlone area.

This is the first time the HSE has revealed the approximate locations for people positive with Covid-19 in each county in Ireland.

The data appears to show a large cluster in Athlone and Mullingar, while Cavan town also has a significant number of cases as well as numerous cases in the east Cavan area towards Kingscourt and areas near  the Meath border.

There is also large group of cases near the Longford-Cavan border.

Ballymahon and Longford town also have residents who tested positive for Covid-19 and a handful of cases were also confirmed in the wider Newtownforbes area.

In Monaghan, the county town appears to have the largest concentration of cases, with some pockets further north near Tydavnet, with cases also in Dohamlet and Carrickmacross.

In Leitrim, the county with the fewest cases so far, the most significant cluster appears to be in the north of the county near Tullaghan, while there are also cases along its border with Roscommon in areas such as Carrick-on-Shannon.

In Roscommon, Castlerea and the county town appear to have the largest amount of cases, with some also reported in greater Boyle area.
