Newly released figures reveal up to 11 sex offenders are residing in Cavan and Monaghan

Up to 11 sex offenders are residing in Cavan and Monaghan.

Figures released the Sex Offender Risk Assessment and Management scheme revealed that 11 sex offenders are living in the Northern Region, which includes Cavan and Monaghan, as well as Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim.

The SORAM scheme is intended to manage the risk posed to the community by convicted sex offenders who are under the supervision of the Probation Service.

Nationwide, 146 sex criminals were being monitored under the Sex Offender Risk Assessment and Management scheme at the beginning of this year.

Of the 146 sex offenders being monitored nationwide, 43 of those living in communities across Ireland have been deemed to pose a “high” or “very high” risk of reoffending.
