Turn out 'brisk' across region in General Election 2024

There is a record 20 candidates contesting the Cavan/Monaghan constituency.

There has been a marked increase in voter turnout at polling stations across Cavan-Monaghan.

A total of 60,063 people are eligible to vote in Cavan and 49,089 in Monaghan, leaving a total poll of 109,152. There are 141 polling stations in Cavan and 118 polling stations in Monaghan.

There is a record 20 candidates contesting the Cavan/Monaghan constituency resulting in a much longer ballot paper that previous General Elections.

Turnout was at 16% at St Tiarnach's NS in Clones at 1:30pm, as of just before 5pm that has increased to 31% and as of 7pm that has increased to 44%. In Cavan town at St Clare's National School turnout was running at around 9.2% at 11am, that has now jumped to 22% by 3.30pm. Virginia has a percentage of 35% as of 5pm. As of 5.30 Cavan Town is seeing a 30% turnout and that has increased to 36% as of 7pm.

Castleblayney is not up on 38% of turnout as of 7pm also. Cootehill at 4pm was on 27% and as of 6.30pm that had increased to 40%and at 4pm in St.Clare's Ballyjamesduff the turnout figure stood at 28%. As of 6.30pm the turn out in Monaghan Town stood at 43.5%

As of 6pm turnout at Ballyjamesduff is at 38% and as 8pm that went to 54%, while the figure as of 6pm in Bailieboro stands at 34%.

As we reach 7pm the turnout in Mullagh is at 57%, Crossreagh is at 52% and Killinkere is at 51%.
