No further immediate redundancies at Lakeland Dairies but Brexit poses a threat

There’ll be no more redundancies in Lakeland Dairies in the immediate future but Brexit still poses and threat to the business.

68 redundancies were announced by the company on Friday evening, with the yoghurt and butter areas in the Monaghan facility being closed.

Talks between Lakeland management and unions will begin today to discuss a timeline for the redundancies as well as severance packages for workers.

The company says the Monaghan facility has been losing money in recent years, with no major investment in the unit.
