No plans for OPW to buy St Felim’s Hospital in Cavan

The OPW has no plans to buy St Felim’s Hospital in Cavan, according to the Minister responsible.

The HSE put the former workhouse and hospital on the market in recent weeks but it’s been criticised by some in the local area.

They’re campaigning for it to be kept in public ownership and renovated for use as a healthcare facility or a museum commemorating its history. The building has lain derelict in recent years.

But Minister Kevin Boxer Moran has said the Commissioners of Public Works have no requirement for a building like St Felim’s in Cavan.
