Number of people living homeless in the region remains largely unchanged

The number of people in homelessness in the region remains mainly unchanged this month.

The North- East region includes Louth, Monaghan, and Cavan and altogether the number of people homeless has risen from 182 to 187 this month.

However, excluding Louth, Monaghan saw no increase with the number of people homeless remaining at one, with an increase of one in Cavan bringing the county’s homeless figure to 6 for July.

The region still represents 3% of the national figure for homelessness, with more than 50% of those presenting as homeless in the North-East male.

The quarterly figures released by the department show that 49 people have exited homelessness in the region compared to this quarter last year.
