One death and 24 new Covid-19 cases recorded today

24 new cases of Covid-19 have been identified by health authorities.

One more person with the virus has also died.

As of this evening, 25,538 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in this country, with 24 new cases confirmed today.

One person with the virus has also died, meaning there have been 1,742 Covid-19 related deaths since the outbreak began.

Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn says there have been 545,000 downloads of the new Covid tracker app, which shows one more example of the solidarity and collective spirit that has characterised the Irish public’s response to COVID-19 to date.

There have been no further Covid-19 related deaths in Northern Ireland for a fourth day in a row.

Five new cases have been confirmed in the region and there have been 26 positive tests over the past week.

The death toll remains at 554 and there are 5,761 cases.
