One local election candidate failed to disclose expenses to Monaghan County Council

Only one candidate in the 2019 local elections failed to disclose their expenses to Monaghan County Council.

Under the Local Elections Act 1999, anyone who runs for a council seat must submit documents explaining what they spent in the run up to May 24th.

This includes money spent on advertising, posters and travel expenses.

Monaghan County Council confirmed on its website that independent candidate in the Monaghan MD James Mee was the only person not to submit the required documentation.

Speaking to Northern Sound News, James Mee explained why he didn’t disclose the paperwork.
