Monaghan County Council have passed stage one in their plans to construct a Peace Campus in the town.
That’s according to Independent Councillor Paudge Connolly with the project expected to be complete in 2021.
The new building is hoped to include a community hub, youth club, library and a cultural heritage centre, at the old Machinery yard site beside the Garda station on Plantation road.
The Council have made an application to the Peace IV shared spaces capital fund and they should know by May whether the project has passed stage two of the application.
Independent Councillor Paudge Connolly says it’s a very exciting project.
