People in Monaghan have the best record for turning up for jury service.
Data from the Courts Service shows more than half of the 1,075 people called to serve on a jury in the county between January and November last year turned up. The Irish Examiner today reports that Leitrim meanwhile had the worst record. Just 180 of the 1,200 people called in that county turned up.
No attendance records are kept in Cavan. People who don’t answer a jury summons are liable for a penalty of €500.
