Planning permission sought to build human crematorium near Castleblayney

Planning permission is being sought for the construction of a human crematorium near Castleblayney.

The single storey building, including a chapel of rest, would be built adjacent to and within the same complex as a previously approved pet crematorium building in Broomfield.

The application also includes plans for additional car parking at the site, alongside connections to the wastewater treatment system and disposal system that has been approved for the pet crematorium.

The planning statement notes that the applicant wishes to erect a pet crematorium and a human crematorium as “an overall integral development operated as one”.

It continues that there's a “growing need” for a human crematorium in Monaghan because the nearest facility is in Cavan Town or Belfast.
