Plans in Monaghan to covert a former well-known building into two new houses

There are plans to convert the former railway goods sheds in Carrickmacross into houses.

Joe and David McCarron have lodged an application to convert the well-known building into two houses.

They hope to renovate the building, build a new extension at the back and carry out other works.

The building, which is a protected structure, is situated in Drummond Otra on the Dundalk road.

It, along with the now demolished train station building, was originally built in the 1880s and has lain vacant for a number of years.

Monaghan County Council is expected to make a decision on the application in mid May.
