The Cavan Autism Parents Support group is ready to ‘press the button’ on a hub for young adults with autism if the appropriate funding was allocated by the government.
The hub would be in place to facilitate adults who have to move on from Drumlin House and allow them to socialise and be educated in a smaller group with adults their own age.
The location, the training courses, and the staff to run the facility are all ready to go, however, the funding to ensure the year to year running of the centre has not been granted.
The government have allocated the rollover of rent for each year, as well as a once off payment for the refurbishment of the premises however, no additional funds have been allocated for the running of the centre.
