Public reminded not to burn domestic or construction waste following Carrickmacross fire

People are being reminded it’s illegal to burn domestic and construction waste, after emergency services extinguished a rubbish fire in south Monaghan last night.

Two units from Carrickmacross Fire and Rescue were called to deal with the incident on waste ground near Inniskeen. The cause of the fire hasn’t been confirmed, however it’s understood it may have been started by contractors burning waste.

The Chief Fire Officer in County Monaghan says it’s important for the public to know that it’s illegal to burn domestic and construction waste.
