Questions have been raised in relation to a frozen medical card list in a Cavan Surgery.
There have been reports that the list has been frozen from approximately 6 years, while the regular time for the transfer of frozen medical lists is 6-18 months. Generally lists are frozen and held by a doctor with the expectation that they would be given to the new GP once they have settled in a practise.
However, at a recent Cavan County Council Meeting Cllr. Philip Brady stated that he was aware of a local case where a list had been frozen for approximately 6 years, a situation which impacts patients, including some who are seriously ill. He has called for the HSE be contacted to find out why this was happening and what would be done about it. Speaking to Northern Sound News Cllr. Brady explained the implications of the situation;
