Remains of Jastine Valdez being returned to her native Philippines today

A Filipino woman living in Cavan says it’s a tradition to support people when a loved one passes away.

The remains of murder victim Jastine Valdez are being returned to her native Philippines today. Accompanied by her parents Danilo and Tess, the student’s remains are being flown out from Dublin airport, to Manila this afternoon.

Filipino native Vanda Marie Brady from County Cavan was one of the leading charges behind a Go Fund Me campaign, which to date has raised over €136,000 for Jastine Valdez’s bereaved family. Vanda also assisted this week in final arrangements for the repatriation of Jastine’s remains through Outreach Ireland, an organisation that provides Consular Outreach Mission supports to Filipinos living here.

Vanda explains why she wanted to help out.
