Meanwhile local hospitals servicing the Northern Sound region are struggling to cope with the high volumes of patients today.
In Cavan General, 8 people are waiting on trolleys, 23 people are waiting in Our Lady of Lourde’s in Drogheda, 16 are waiting in Navan, and 17 are waiting in Sligo. Cavan General Hospital also says it is currently experiencing high volumes of patients presenting with flu like symptoms.
The hospital is requesting that any non-risk patients with flu like symptoms do not attend the Emergency Department or Acute Medical Assessment. A Spokesperson from the Hospital says at risk groups should make contact with their GP by telephone, before deciding to attend the facility.
