The details of a pilot scheme for the use of medical cannabis have been revealed.
Patients suffering with certain types of epilepsy, MS, as well as some people receiving cancer treatment will be eligible to take part in the trial.
It follows the work of an Expert Review Group and the publication of a new HPRA report, which recommended controlled access to medicinal cannabis.
The HPRA report also stated that the scientific evidence supporting the safe and effective use of cannabis products for medical treatment is insufficient and at times conflicting.
