Sarah O’Reilly has been selected to represent Aontú in the next General Election.
The Bailieborough councillor accepted the nomination at the party’s first ever General Election selection convention, held in Cootehill last night.
Gráinne McPhillips, who ran in the Ballyjamesduff area in May, was also nominated but withdrew, leaving Sarah O’Reilly as the sole candidate.
In the local elections earlier this year, the party received almost 3,000 first preference votes across three candidates, with Sarah O’Reilly topping the poll and being the only one to win a seat.
