Scotstown returned to the Greenfields Foods Monaghan SFC final after a five point win over Ballybay Pearse brothers.
Goals from Michael McCarville, Shane Carey and Conor McCarthy were enough to see Scotstown into the October 20 decider with Clontibret on a 3-12 to 1-13 scoreline.
Michael McCarville found the net on 11 minutes to push Scotstown 1-2 to 0-4 ahead as Paul Finlay, Colm Lennon and two Dessie Ward points saw Ballybay open up an early lead.
Kieran Hughes and Conor McCarthy both sent over points as Scotstown led by two and Shane Carey then made the lead five with a 21st minute penalty.
The sides exchanged two points each as Scotstown led by five at the break 2-6 to seven points.
Conor McCarthy extended Scotstown’s lead with an early second half free, but Patrick O’Neill made it a three point game with a Ballybay goal on 33 minutes.
Two Shane Carey points and one from Francis Maguire moved Scotstown six points clear. Paul Finlay’s free kept Ballybay in touch before a wonder goal by Conor McCarthy put Scotstown into the final.
Points from Tommy O’Neill and Ciaran Galligan plus a Paul Finlay free kept Ballybay hopes alive, but free’s from Rory Beggan’s and Shane Carey saw Scotstown over the line.
Paul Finlay bagged a consolation point but it was Scotstown who progressed -12 to 1-13.
