Scotstown made it three Greenfield foods Monaghan Senior Football titles in a row with a 10 point victory over Maghercloone.
Michael Metzger gave Maghercloone the lead with a point in the second minute of the game, however it turned out to be the only time Maghercloone led in the game.
Darren Hughes powered through the Maghercloone defence to shoot home the games opening goal after five minutes as Scotstown led 1-2 to 0-1.
Scotstown were able to put some clear water between the two sides and at half time the reigning champions led by six points, 1-9 to six points.
Michaeal Metzger, Thomas Freeeman and James Ward all slotted the ball over the bar in the second half for Maghercloone with Conor McCarthy and James Hamill responding for Scotstown.
14 minutes into the second half Conor McCarthy shot home for Scotstown’s second goal after Kiernan Hughes run to put eight points behind the teams.
It became a bridge to far for Maghercloone with Scotstown eventually clocking two goals and 17 points to win with Conor McCarthy collecting the man of the match award for scoring 1-8.
Scotstown manager Kieran Donnelly told Alan Gunn that Scotstown’s experience told out in the end.
