The feasibility of a second beef producing group for farmers in County Monaghan is being considered. Valerie Woods from the Department of Agriculture will meet with IFA members in Monaghan this evening to discuss how another group is established.
Chairman in the county Frank Brady said there’s already a successful group in the region but it’s full, and there’ve been calls to allow more farmers benefit from having power in numbers.
Producing groups have the ability to refine supply in response to market demand, improve the branding of products and optimise production costs. Speaking to Northern Sound News, Frank Brady said farmers need some security ahead of Brexit.
