Sepsis awareness walk in memory of Cavan woman will be held this weekend

A Virginia family are holding a sepsis awareness walk this weekend in memory of Angela Cahill who lost her life to the condition on this day last year.

Sepsis is a life threatening medical condition that arises when the body’s attempt to fight an infection results in the immune system damaging tissues and organs. It is more common than a heart attack and claims more lives than cancer with seven people dying daily in Ireland as a result of sepsis.Taking the positive out of a tragic situation the family have organised a sepsis awareness walk, ‘Remembering Angela’, at 2pm on Sunday the 10th February at Virginia Rugby Club, County Cavan to raise awareness of the condition.

Angela’s daughter Catriona Flanagan is hoping attendees will engage with the sepsis team at the event helping educate people on what signs and symptoms to watch out for.
