Seven Local Authorities projects in Cavan and Monaghan have been shortlisted by Chambers Ireland for the 2020 Excellence in Local Government Awards.
The awards, in its 17th year, are held annually in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
There are 16 categories in the Excellence in Local Government Awards, and Cavan and Monaghan are represented in seven of them.
Monaghan has the most nominations with six, while Cavan County Council has one nomination in the 'Enhancing the Urban Environment' category for it Cavan Town Hall Theatre project.
Monaghan County Council is shortlisted in the 'Supporting Sustainable Communities' category for its work in Clones, as well as being nominated in the 'Supporting Tourism' and the 'Outstanding initiative through the Municipal Districts' categories.
Monaghan is also shortlisted for a community collaboration project in Scotshouse under 'Best Practice in Community Engagement', in the 'Sustaining the Arts' category for its works on the Patrick Kavanagh Centre and Exhibition, as well as being nominated for in the 'Health and Wellbeing' category.
