Sinn Fein calls for change to procurement process to help local businesses

Sinn Fein says a policy that redesigns the procurement process would help smaller businesses in Cavan and Monaghan compete for contracts. Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty said it was just one measure of the party’s “Alternative Budget” to protect companies on the border region from possible Brexit fallout.

A rebate on fuel for haulage companies, and greater investment in research and development would allow indigenous companies to compete with multi-nationals, are also included in the plan.

Speaking to Northern Sound News, Pearse Doherty said the current system doesn’t work.
