Sinn Féin Councillor voices concerns over flood alleviation works scheduled for Monaghan Town

Sinn Fein Councillor Seán Conlon has voiced concerns about flood alleviation works in Monaghan Town which is scheduled to take place next spring.

A new box culvert will be installed in the town which will cross under the Glen Road, the N54 Macartan Road and up Castle Road.

During construction, one lane will be closed on the Glen Road and Macartan Road, and the entrance to the Credit Union will be closed for the duration of the works.

At a recent Monaghan County Council Meeting, Councillor Conlon called for the tender documents to stipulate that works be carried out during the night to minimize traffic disruption.

However, he was told that the tender could not stipulate this and Councillor Conlon expressed his disappointment to Northern Sound News:
